European Youth Expression Space (E.Y.E.S.) is a virtual space where groups of young people from all over Europe can express and share their knowledge, opinions and ideas about society in the form of short movies. These can be rated and commented by viewers.
The underlying idea of the project is to make youth interested in society and other countries through audiovisual media. This is explained more in the movie below.

  • correspondence to topic (but it is very welcome to approach topics creatively – e.g. groups can make fictional films, documentaries, street interviews etc.)
  • acceptable technical quality (but the movies don’t have to be technically professional)
  • English subtitles
  • recommended length: 1-15 minutes

Get to know the E.Y.E.S. participants:
Young Belarusians, Estonians, Poles and Romanians.

In May 2010 E.Y.E.S. participants met at a media training in Münster. During this they made a movie about the debt crisis in Europe that can be seen here.

As the next topic for movies participants chose

“Ways to better education”

Below is a short introduction to the topic.

Many people in Europe don’t get enough education. In some countries, for example Ukraine, more than 10 percentage of children don’t get primary education.

In European Union, about 40% of the youth aged 15-24 don’t go to school. In some countries, for example, UK and Macedconia, this percentage is even more than 50.

Sometimes children and youth don’t have an opportunity to go to school, for example because their parents lack money. In some cases they can go to school but don’t use that opportunity and miss classes because find them boring.

How to give every child and youngster the opportunity to get education? How to make them go to school and not miss classes? And how to ensure that these classes are really useful, not a waste of time? E.Y.E.S. participants try to answer these questions in the movies that will be seen soon on the E.Y.E.S. YouTube channel.
